18.6M! A hell of alot of money. Ferguson will get totally slated if he doesn't play really well!

look at the difference in lampard once he moved from west ham to chelsea, he became one of the top midfielders in the world

i reckon carrick will improve ten fold working under ferguson and especially quieroz

18.6 is far too much!! he's no better than Gravesen who would have cost half.

Big money but Spurs were in the driving seat in the deal, seems they've done well to get a big price like that.

to much money for a player who is supposedly a defensive midfielder . spurs paid west ham 2.5 mil for carrick hes a great player and will only get better but hes more of a box to box midfielder than just a defensive one thats why fergie has bougt him he needs someone whos going to run until his legs give way just like keane did . good business from both clubs imo !

tbh i couldn't believe my eyes when i seen he'd gone for that much, i personally havn't seen anything to warrant paying a third of that price.

Did you watch a young Makele @ Nantes & Celta Vigo?

Fairplay to you if you did.

    a) Carrick is nothing like Makele....he can pass a ball further than 10 yards for a start.

    b) Carrick is not a box to box player, I think i only saw him run half a dozen times in his whole time with us

Hes a good player and we will miss him but he has a habit of just drifting through games, not actually doing very much apart form passing the ball 20 yards side ways.

His reading of the game is up there with the best and he rarely gives the ball way.

He COULD be as good as Hoddle and if anyone is going to get the best out of him its Ferguson. Dont expect him to be the new Roy Keane because he is nothing like him. I still think Man U need a hardman to play alongside him as he would get absolutely owned in a battle against the likes of Gatusso and Mascherano.

Hes a bit of a poor mans Pirlo just without the set pieces
