Re: Cannabis 'disrupts brain centre' I've always thought that drugs can induce schizophrenia/depression/anxiety etc in people shit kicker, but it doesn't change my stance on them. I think it's pretty much a given that anyone who exhibits symptoms should try and stear clear (if they choose to). It's good to see that they're starting to work out the mechanics behind it all though. The part I quoted interests me, surely paranoia would be due to a lack of logical thinking in the brain and maybe my "inferior frontal cortex" is just fucked and I'm the one with screwed logic but since when did people swearing indicate some kind of brain malfunction or the slightest jibe of "innapropriate behaviour". Just fucking words really aren't they?
http://www.badscience.net/?p=389#more-389 ................................The rising trend of cannabis potency is gradual, fairly unspectacular, and driven largely by the increased availability of intensively UK grown indoor herbal cannabis............. in 1975 the weakest herbal cannabis analysed was 0.2%; in 1978 the strongest herbal cannabis was 12%. Oh my god: in just 3 years herbal cannabis has become 60 times stronger. And in fact, what’s most amazing is that this scare isn’t new. In the US, in the mid 1980s, during Reagan’s “war on drugs”, it was claimed that cannabis was 14 times stronger than in 1970, which rather sets you thinking. If it was 14 times stronger in 1986 than in 1970, and it’s 25 times stronger today than the beginning of the 1990s, does that mean it is now, in fact, 350 times stronger than 1970?
there is a vast and well funded research industry dedicated to finding bad effects from illegal drugs. if you look hard enough you can be fairly sure of finding bad effects from nearly every substance which the human body interacts with. I would rather interact with cannabis than half the untested e-numbers that are present in most processed food. But there is a huge vested interest and well paid lobbyists and well funded scientists who are paid to find that these substances are 'safe'. The truth is that everything you take into your body has a chance to cause you harm. People die from peanuts FFS
Me too, if I smoked it as much as some people I know I would get nothing at all done. I simply cant function on it at all.
I know its bad for me but what isnt these days. i still love it and always will. One of lifes fine pleasures
