It's a shame they don't record any anymore. Listening to Corvin @ Promise 1-3-2002 - class.

Probably wont happen. there are loads of copyright issues with recording and distributing music, especially because most DJs will be playing promos, or maybe unsigned tunes, and labels wont want them being distributed....

Revel do you really reckon anyone would sue?

It was mint being able to listen to Hardwick's (and Tulips, Feb) sets after coming home from Promise. It's been done before, I can't see why it can't be done again really.

It also felt like there was more effort being put into Promoting Promise.. and like there was more of a big thing being made of it.

Do you know what I mean?

Nass, MP3s of any kind being distributed is a MASSIVE problem for labels at the moment. Many artists like Hardwick etc play exclusive tracks that arent available. There is NO WAY many of them would allow their new, unreleased tunes to be recorded at the club, then put up for download. It would be loads of work for Rob, or whoever to contact the artists and labels to ask permission to make the set available for download.

Plus, recording set might stop people from comming to promise. Why pay if u can get it for free? If u want to hear the set, pay your money and come to the club. There are too many 'Internet clubbers' now, who just download sets, and dont actually go to clubs.

If thats the case, then why are there sets from 100 other clubs.... (club eau, quontact, id&t radio, elevate etc etc) .... if them, why not us?

Did Rob ask Hardwick last time?

I'm not having a go at you Revel, I just can't understand how Hardwicks, Tulips, Fosters (especially, with stuff he plays) and Maitlands sets being available for download/given away as free CDs is OK but others aren't.

Cos they are promo sets, where they will have permission from the artist to use their tracks on a promo CD. But Promise wont have permission to freely distribute tracks recorded at the club, and will then have to seek permission (i think)

I few months back Ben Woods had a set that hed been recorded, and he was going to put it up for download, but he couldnt as some of the tracks were new, and un-released, and the labels didnt want him to....

We've never put any mixes up to download without the permission of the DJ. It costs us quite a few quid for each download we put on the sites as 100s of people download each one and we have to pay for all the bandwidth we use.

There will be more mixes to download this year but I'm not sure if they will be recorded live or not. Most djs actually don't like having live sets recorded/distributed as it is very hard to attain studio quality mixing in a sweaty, loud dj box.

I understand that rob but I don't think you know how much me and my lot (and everyone else) used to appreciate you putting the music on the net. It was fucking great to listen to again after your night out, half of which you couldn't remember and brought back memories of moments you had in the club. That might not mean alot to some people but it does to me and the rest of us.

Can promise afford to make room for downloads? Can promise ask the DJs playing more often if their mixes can be available for download?

I dunno if it's up to you but half the time you're not actually up here mate which I thought was why it was rare that our featured DJs sets got recorded, Mr IT/sound dude.

    im pissed as fuck.
