Can i watch HD on my pc?

I have a shitty graphics card, and a fairly old CRT monitor but I downloaded an HD rip of 24 anyway. It plays in WMP fine but the quality doesn't look any different tbh. My resolution is 1280x1024.

    Am i missing something?

1280x1024 should show you 720 HD OK.

Hi def rips on mine are definitely more detailed, but struggle slightly with the colour, as they're more compressed.

What size is the file you downloaded?

is there anywhere such as an HD promotion site where I can download a sample HD file? 24 really doesn't have anything happening that shows high quality detail. A clip from Gladiator or something would be more appropriate.

its not full hd then is it, it is better than normal avi qulaity so you should notice some difference, but the res you want is 1280 x 720.

If you want full HD then u want 1080p stuff

1920x1080 is the res your after.

Expect big file sizes though.. especially if they're source files and not re-encodes..

For exmaple LOTR ROTK was roughly 35gig...
