This has been the problem since the Brazil game. Don't play players just because they're good individually. Play a team of players who play in the positions available. My team would be Robinson Neville A Cole Terry Ferdinand with King / Campbell / Carragher as obvious replacements (not a fan of Luke Young - too nervous) J Cole Lampard King Beckham with replacements in Gerrard for Lampard - Carrick / Parker for King - Wright-Phillips for Beckham - Leave Cole on the pitch Rooney Owen Replacements in Smith / Johnson / and I'm not going to say Crouch but a tall/strong player is always useful as well.
your spot on. the advantage of having top class subs was show when Cambell got injured agaisnt Austria and had to be replaced... we had a `point to prove` Rio dying to get on the pitch. Dropping Stevie G is almost impossible tho :spangled:
I agree, but Gerrard is even more of a top class player when he only gets half an hour. The way he destroyed some of the teams in the champs league earlier in the season was incredible. You're guaranteed a game change when he comes on.
my team would be 1. robinson ferdininad terry king swp gerrard parker lampard a.cole rooney and owen up front That would give both gerrard and lampard more freedom better balance on the left and when we defend cole could drop back to left back . swp would maybe fight it out with becks but we just looked so much more threatning with him goin at players rather than becks spredin the ball around . But if he sticks 4-4-2 id drop gerrarg cos he doesnt score anywhere near the amount lamps does and will !
yeah am hummin an harring about that one like its just becks is in there for passing and dead ball situations and killer passes no apart from the crossing both stevie g and lamps can do the biz with passes and to be fair are more threatning and energetic these days than becks . plus if you look at our midfield .... where is the pace ??? A.cole bombing on is quick but swp is like speedy gonzalez ...About the same size as well I just think he gives the team a different dimension and he created space for rooney and lamps last night ! dont think becks will get dropped but its an option for sven aint it !

Scott parker should be in the squad without doubt he has been outstanding this season and miles better than others making the squad
i wouldn't have king as the holding midfielder... he's good but a natural centre back, against teams like brazil he might struggle a bit more... someone who plays there week in week out would be my choice... carrick has to be favourite and parker if he's as good as everyone claims he is.
