    can anyone?

    can anyone on here cut a 9" circle into a 1" think slab of slate?

    will any old stonemason do or does they have to specifically work in slate?

    if anyone works in fireplaces can they do it?

    ask a roofer! its really easy to be honest. theyll just draw out the circle with some style of engraving tool thing, then chip off the excess, then smooth off the edges.

    simple as that eh?

    i know roofers but it is an inch thick. it's gonna be no easy job.

    Maybe you should have mentioned it was an inch think.
    A roofer may still have the equipment to do it, but i think you may have to do a big google hunt.
    How big is the original piece of slate like?

    sorry i mis-spelled 1" thick in my original question as 1" think....sorry about the confussion.

    I need a 9" core cutter for masonary work...but these are expensive, have been advised to hire one. but i'm sure i must know someone who knows someone who uses them. the hunt continues.

    I dunno how thick the original piece was, i'm sure it was cut from the side of a large quarry.
