Compressing Mpg files I've recorded some footage on a camcorder its uses high8 tapes. I didnt realise it wasnt a digital camera so theres no usb cable to transfer the video directly to a computer. How can i get the footage off the tape into digital format?? Its only supplied with a av cable (yellow, white jacks), and theres no software cd with it either... I've never done it before so have no clue... :spangled:
you'll need a video capture card that allows you to plug them in. i think also some fancy video cards also have inputs... Pinnacle or Hauppauge are some manufacturers.....
Re: Camcorder video how did you not realise it wasnt a digital camera? if it was the approximate size and weight of a car battery, hand a manual film winding handle and uses 2 metre rolls to record a minute of film, then my guess would be it was not digital. im so sorry im in such a silly mood today. :fart:
Well seen as it was the first time I'd ever used one before. And basically they all look the same just a bit smaller/lighter etc.. Til it came to finding a data cable there wasn't one!! :strop: Anyways.... I have the video in mpg format now. Only prob is that its 2 files each nearly 1gb!!! Is there anyway to make the files smaller??! Some sort of compression software???
there's load around... Movie Maker that come with XP will allow u to export it in loads of different formats/quality
