    ConvertXtoDVD FTW.

Earlier version of nero do, but later ones you'll need the MPEG2 codec plugin. you can get keygens if u want to steal it then put the code into the start up manager, but to be honest, it's still not brilliant.

    ConvertXtoDVD all the way

is it DivX's? put lots of chapters in, like 1 every 1:30 - it just resync's the sound so you don't get the audio sync problems that you sometimes get with poorly encoded files

cheers MOS, nah they're AVI files, i've already watched them and the audio encoding seems spot on to me.

i'm 'backing' the films up because i've just got a new external DVD writer :)

so as burning films go, i'm a complete n00b

yeah, AVI's CAN be DivX's file if thats how they're encoded. Films around 700mb? it'll probably be DivX or XVid

ah right, that must be the case then, although one is a full DVDrip and it's about 4gb, but it's an image so it's not a fuck on to burn.

whats this chapters thing about then?

if it's an Image, Just open Nero Burning Rom, at the box that pops up select 'Open' and point it to the .ISO (or whatever the image extention is, if nero supports that file format)

If they're DivX's, Open ConvertX, click the green '+' button, browse to the file and add it. Then, go to the settings menu, there will be loads of little tabs, 1 called 'Menu' tab - turn off the menu and select 'autoplay' (unless u want a menu?) then go to the Chapters tab, decrease the time between chapters to 1:30seconds. Also, go to the 'Burning' Tab, set it to a nice slow speed, say 4x to make sure it's a decent burn. once all the settings are done, just select 'convert' with a blank disk in - 1 hour later it should be done
