    Building a computer - help!

Hi - I'm wanting to buy a PC but have been told it'll be easier to build one - now I haven't got a clue when it comes to stuff like this so I need help....I know Si Quick posted a similar thread a few months ago, but it seems to have been deleted:(

Anyway - I need it for music production (long term) and internet / recording mixes etc (short term)

Budget - 4oo quid, poss stretch to 500

spec: it's quite specific due to me wanting to get into production but here goes:

    512Mb RAM (or better)
    2 GHz minimum processor speed
    good soundcard eg. Audiophile 2496
    Windows operated
Intel Pentium 4 processor or equivalent
    phono ins etc

No TINY and No DELL please (due to parts and / or shitness of company)

What I need to know is how to get the parts, where's best to get them, cost, and HOW TO BUILD THE THING!

    Any advice greatly appreciated....

Had my Dell for around 2 years with absolutely no problems at all.

I've had mine for 4, zero troubles.

    No plans to replace it!

As for parts...they are exactly the same as every other pc

If I were you i'd just buy one, you could have some big bother if you don't know what you are doing!
