Re: Bring Back The Technology Section

technology is 1 word that fits all the things in this forum.

computers, hi-fi and mp3 players is a group of words that doesn't get the job done in full.

    exactly!

i have a dodgey tumble dryer but due to the change in name and the feeling that such an appliance doesent really fit into the 'etc' at all - i do not want to inject such trivialities into the sub-forum.

    so there.

it's the name of a forum on an almost defunct and bitter clubbing messageboard in the stag capital of the world - step away from the keyboards and go sit in the garden with a drink and a cig  it'll be alright

well yeah, its is defunct now - its aesthetics show nothing of the clubbing culture.

we'll have 30+ year olds joining up or somthing soon*

*talking about how nice whitley bay beach is this time of year, and how they had an excellent holiday in the piranese the other month.

like clubbing, this place needs 'new blood' too if it's to keep going - so bring them on! 90% of the posts on here at the moment are you 2 talking shite

the reason there's no 'fresh blood' here is because the first post from someone is usually torn to pieces by the regulars. noobs are given no chance at all. the reg's think its funny, but the noob doesnt know how to take the bashing/sarcasm/public hanging and never returns.

the reason there is no fresh blood in clubbing is because its boring. the same thing has been done over and over again for 20 years and its fucked. dj wants to play out/ lad wants to throw a party. hire a room. book a famous-ish dj/ print flyers. turn up (pray others do too). thats it. thats the basic formula. nobody in the last 10 years (apart from a select few) have done anything different to make the "night of entertainment" special - other than hang a wooden sign in front of the decks stating what the "night" is called. (like mobile disco's have been doing to hide the cables since the 70's)

Shindig is without doubt the big night of the north east. but from an amateurs point of view, they book a dj, hang up the signs in the main room and open the doors. unfortunately, to any new promoters, that's all they think they need to do. so, that format is carried on.

nobody has pushed the envelope in so long its no wonder clubbing has so many cynical and bitter members. the crazy shit from the early 90's, fire breathers, stilt walkers, festival/cabaret shit might be a daft idea now, but when was the last time you heard of any out the box thinking to keep punters engaged in a night?

in recent times, i'd say that has died down a little. except for the 'charver' invasion from ultimatebuzz.

Id imagine most forums are quiet now because of Facebook/MySpace allowing people to keep in touch with their mates.

    nar - just my opinion.

it's been worse - but it's better days are behind us! Also, most independant forums have to fund their server/bandwidth costs ot keep it running - we dont, we're at Rob's good grace that it's still running

tell me about it - i still live here and would hate to see it go!!!!!

Currently, the left hand banners (general ads) are google ads so they contribute towards runnings costs ( i think) BUT the local night banners (right hand side) don't pay anymore. it kinda got difficult to manage and more trouble than it's worth administering it.

i would hate to see this place get shut down - i'm sure if rob got sick of being 'the nice guy' someone else could keep the place in check? :)

and tbh - if i were rob i would have banned me ages ago for the simple fact that i'm far too random and hammer this board too much.

but, then again - if i wasnt here talking bollocks, it would just be the mnml lot complaining of how shit newcastle is, and the trance lot complaining about how wrong the mnml lot are about newcastle.

    see. i've started again.... shit.
