Brid's PERU photos OK here we go - As requested. These are a combination of scans, digital camera pictures and ones i took on my k750 so please excuse the changeable quality. Had a totally brilliant, tiring, emotional time - and didnt want to come home! South America is a beautiful country with some amazingly friendly and open people - and some of the worst, most corrupt taxi drivers ever! Ive left out the pictures of Lima cause that place is a dump - So here are pictures from Cusco, The Inca Trail and Arequipa Honourable mention has to go to the Guinea Pig i ate for dinner one night.... and nearly threw up afterwards! http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=2117864283 Enjoy.
Re: Brid's PERU photos glad you enjoyed it! looked truly amazing, hopefully i'll get my chance this summer if i can get enough hols together.
Re: Re: Brid's PERU photos It was that picture you posted at the beginning of the year that inspired me to go Truly amazing place mate - you will love it!
Re: Re: Re: Brid's PERU photos glad to be of service mate, looks like you enjoyed it just as much as my mate did last summer. so gutted i missed out the chance to go then, but i'm still at the stage where i have to put my career first. defo looking to get it hooked up next year though, had a another read through my peru lonely planet guide last week and it wet my appetite again.
Fab pictures!! Makes me want to get on a plane out of here right now!! Guinea Pig?- did it taste like chicken? Did you sample any other local 'cuisine'? .... no dodgy cacti i hope
The first guinea pig i ate was a portion of leg which didnt taste too bad, since it looked like any random piece of game or whatever. The one in the picture was a different story, the skin on it was pretty loose and gelatinous and the meat had a strong flavour - it wasnt anything i was used to eating so it tasted 'wrong' (i think my brain interpreted that as it being 'off' or something) even though it obviously just tasted of guinea pig. Half way through that i realised that it was the first time i'd ever eaten a rodent, and that it didnt taste nice AT ALL...... I didnt feel sick or anything but the mental picture in my mind made me pay my bill and get out of the restaurant asap to get some chocolate and beer to clear the taste out my mouth! Didnt get to try the cactus unfortunately - although i would have definately had a few 'peyote trips' if my schedule had allowed it
It cleared up soon after when the sun rose (and my camera ran out of pictures)..... was truly amazing Wish i was back there
class pics mate, it looks class from the top of the mountain, id be caking myself tho im terrified of heights
