Boro Legend Dead While Boro fans talk about buses & the future, they have forgotten that a boro born & bred legend died. Gentleman George Hardwick passed away yesterday .George had a unique record of playing for England 13 times & being captain in every game.
Re: Boro Legend Dead A legend he was. He will be sadly missed at the Boro but will always be remembered as one of the best players ever. Also has the distinction of being the only player to captain England and Great Britain at the same time. Lost only one game while he was captain! Was one of the founding fathers of total football during a spell coaching at PSV and for the Dutch national team. RIP
He was born in saltburn too, where im from and he his very fondly thought of around here... an absolute legend who will be missed. RIP
