Boot up problem My mam had a powercut while she was using the pc the other day. When she turned it back on the screen where it asks you how you want to start up cam up safe mode start windows normally etc We've tried both options and the same thing keep happening, it starts to load up windows to the point where the windows logo is on the screen with the loading bar underneath it before the computer resets itself and goes through it all again.Any ideas???
i had this problem with my last desktop. i never really got a professional opinion to what the problem actually was, however i found that it was a hardware error of somekind. i basically had to unplug un needed HD's and CD/floopy drives for it to work properly. still havent fixed it yet like
Sounds bad whenever that happens, either what kieran sed, a windows file missing or a HDD cluster which is fatal happend to me about 3 times in the past with laptops mainly from overloading the fucker with gear. Install windows again m8, whatever operating system ur using use the same one again if poss. If that doesnt work & starts sending u back to the start of the windows installation again then u probly need a new hard drive as it'll have a clutster on, cluster is just where the hard drive reads the same bit over and over, the bit where it was at when the power went off or in some peoples cases when they didn't shut down properly lol.
i dont think you should give out advice until you go to the internet and find out what a cluster is :tut:
balls was open it was something simpler.I'll try reinstalling windows and if that doesnt work pour a cup of the tea down the back of it
Im not gonna hit the guy with a Text book jase, a "Bad" cluster, he could have 1, 2, 3, 10, bad clusters on his hard drive. Cause: Bad exits from Windows This happens if the PC is reset or switched off without shutting down Windows properly, e.g.: User switches off (or resets) PC without shutting down properly User attempts shutdown, but shutdown fails to complete Power fails, or is accidentally switched off PC spontaneously resets (e.g. bad power or power supply) PC crashes or locks up, so that shutdown is impossible Sometimes u can save ur hard drive from them, but from what hes telling me it sounds like a damaged windows system 32 file, and at the "worst", a Bad cluster(s) on his hard drive which means it's as good as bucket material. But i think if he re installs windows it will be fine and soon as he hooks up the internet it'll start downloading all his updates again.
