We ruined their country ... as much as i loathe to think how much money we are spending on this 'war', we need to have as many people in there as possible to get that country back on its feet. I wonder if we will ever look back on the past five years in the future and wonder what the hell our leaders thought they were doing. I hope the history books paint a grim picture of bush and blair.
If they can secure the city, it will be worth it. If they can't, we're going to see an increase in American and Iraqi casualties. Their so-called top expert on insurgency recommends reducing troop numbers and making them less visible, but what we're effectively dealing with is sectarian warfare. I think this might be the long overdue end of Bush if it fails, so it's tempting to hope it will - but then you remember the extra people who will die as a result and realise what a true disaster it is.
it's way past the point at which we can do anything to help the situation. The longer we stay the more of our troops will die and to no good purpose. We just need to leave now.
Bush: "The Iraqi people owe the Americans a huge debt of gratitude". What an utterly offensively ignorantly ill-timed ill-informed self righteous and downright pious bit of nonsense. Tell it to the families of the 600000 dead, the 1 in 8 who've fled their homes or the ones who are living in constant fear of violence, with no power or water or job. Anyone remember the last minute offer that Saddam could still avoid war if he gave up his WMD? Fucking idiot.
