Re: Best Graphics card... I saw that on tv on Bravo. They were going againist each other and see who can win.
9800pro is really good and more than capable of running the latest FPS. You need a fast pc to keep up with a card like than otherwise the card will be held back. Is HL2 out?
i think it might be? ive seen it bundled with Graphics cards....? ive got AMD 2200XP 1gb RAM, so it should be ok? better than my 32meg card at them moment...
I have that voucher, all it means is that when it comes out you can download a copy off steam for free. I don't think it's out till Q3 2004. I think that yr processor may hold you back a bit tbh.
Half Life 2 isnt out till summer - the thing you get with Ati Radeon cards is a voucher for the game when it comes out. There was a leaked Beta copy of the game which was out around september last year - which forced Valve to push development back nearly a whole year so they could rewrite it. As for graphics cards, if you want to play doom 3, far cry and half life 2 you should hold off till the games are out and pick up a radeon 9800 pro for about 150 pounds (they are 180 pounds right now from komplett.co.uk or overclockers.co.uk) - Would make no sense to get one now specifically for those games when they will certaintly be cheaper sooner the time IMHO. Having said that, a radeon 9800 pro or an Nvdia Geforce FX 5900 should be the bare minimum you should buy to play HL2 properly (They have 8 pixel pipelines in the silicon that games like HL2 need in order to run smoothly) - spend anything less and you'll get cards that are half the speed (4 pixel pipelines) and will not run the game very well at all (you'll have to turn down all the eye candy to keep the speed up). With graphics cards its really easy to buy a "ringer" for the sake of 20-30 quid for one thats more expensive and has a whole lot more power under the hood and other fundamental differences which make alot of difference when your playing games. Hope that helps.
The jury is out on that one The game that people downloaded was very much "mature" in terms of development - i wouldnt say it was a whole year away from being finished. Having said that i thought the september 30th deadline they originally set was very ambitious.
I have the Farcry demo and it runs sweet on my current pc with all the bits and bobs turned up @ 1280/1024. It's an amazing game to watch, gives you in idea of what halflife2/doom will be like when they are ready.
Yeah it looks fantastic - the demo was great. Pity the developers offices got raided last week to find they had tens of thousands of pounds of illegal development software - could stop the game coming out altogether!
I like halflife as well, but hey Battlefield 1942, with the Desert Combat mod is the best combat game so far
CS is good but as always, its gradually gotten worse as all the wankers and 'kids who got it for xmas' started playing online. Also the fact that 1.5 was the last decent version after mr.sierra decided to kill it with steam
go to forums.overclockers.co.uk have a look at the gfx section.. they know what they are on about. as for HL2.. no its not out yet... it has been delayed.. maybe cos of the possible hacking situation they had a while back. either way it wont be out for a while yet.
