    Beckham

Makes me laugh in the press when people slate him
Hes the only player at the moment in the team who can actually control and pass a football ,
At least he fucking tries which is more than can be said for most of them

He's always the easy target though isn't he?

    Bit like Erikkson.

I wouldn't agree with his whole obsession with 4-5-1, but at the same time I takes more than the manager to screw a team... It takes players who couldn't give a shit.

Beckham was one of the few who I'd say vindicated himself last night - he gave it his best, shame the rest of his team didn't.

They should put him back on the right though. Thats where he's played most of his career. At his best when he's whipping crosses in

Exactly but beckham has been drifting more centrally looking for the ball and that has caused the shape of the team to go a little and lampard and gerrard to be confused . :spangled:

Beckham is undoubtedly a good attacking midfielder

but he aint no holding player is he? its a case of trying to squeeze all the big names into the team, which means playing them out of position

i would much rather see 4-4-2, with beckham on the right, and someone like stewart downing on the left for some natural width

or if its gonna be 4-5-1, someone like scott parker or michael carrick should playing the holding role

But now its worse. Gerrard and Lampard look lost. There's nothing wrong with a wide player drifiting in every now and again but overall it would give better balance if he was on right. Joe Cole seems to have done best of all people on left until hopefully Downing develops

Beckham is to slow for the wing and Wright Phillips will be more effective there. Id probs play him alongside Gerrard in the middle and rotate gerrard with lampard.

Agreed, people need to get off his back, he's a class player imo.

Agreed i,d play becks alongside gerrard then they can share defensive duties
mind you you dont need to be quick when you can cross a ball like beckham

The only one who looked up for it, though perhaps the system only allowed for him to shine in midfield.

Wright Phillips hasn't got the guile for international football. He's a bit of a one-trick pony, knock it past them and run. It might work in the Premiership but not against the best defenders in the world

Beckham falls over everytime someone goes shoulder to shoulder with him. He is a decent player still but i wouldn't have him as first choice.

Scott Parker will be making a claim for a place by the time the world cup starts. :)

we need a quality defensive midfielder in the makalele role. problem is there aren't too many english ones around at this point. if carrick has a good season then maybe him. until then we will have to play 2 out of beckham, gerrard and lampard, probs beckham and gerrard 1st choice.
