They wont drop him completley . He wont bwe in this sqaud but the fa would loose a fortune in endorsements and sponsors if becks isnt still part of the england set up . He will be back but not in the first squad . Weather he keeps his place in the team is the biggest question !

It's blatantly just McClaren trying to make a "I've got balls, please like me" statement to the media/public.

But if he drops Beckham ... surely it's the best move he could have made. Beckham at this stage in his career wont have much impact (bar dead ball pieces) on the game, so surely McClaren's best off giving starting opportunities to Lennon or SWP.

Even if Eriksson had still been in charge, I doub't Beckham would have played in this match. He's just back from a world cup, and is one of the more senior tried-and-tested players, there's just no need to give him a run out in a friendly against greece. McClaren's just made/leaked the announcement to cause a bit of a stir imo.

the reports are suggesting that this could be the last we see of becks in the england squad.

i'm all for steve mac making his mark and letting everyone know who's boss but england could conceivably have a player regularly playing for one of the best teams in europe and not getting in the squad but still JERMINE JENAS is getting in the squad.wtf

    fucking bizzare

Think Beckham will be back in the squad at some point. Don't mind that but don't think he should start. Think Lennon, Wright-Phillips and maybe even Pennant are ahead of him now. IMO world cup showed you need pace and the ability to beat a man on the wings, and Beckham has neither. It's also unlikely that he'll be England's best RW in 2 years time.
Saying that, isn't he just coming back from injury, so maybe that's why he'll be left out?

i may not be beckhams biggest fan but dropped in favour of phil neville, richardson and jenas... he'll be gutted

should have been a place for one or two out of nolan, parker, reo-coker and barton imo.
