Re: Beastie Boys - The Mix Up that would be boring, the beasties wouldent be who they were without mix masta mike flippin those beats, and the beastie boy's lashin' down the flow, ya herd? but yeah, ya can't whack the beastie shout at the end of every sentence. classic
He only joined from Hello Nasty onwards, was awesome at Reading '98. He cant have the credit for their best albumn Ill Communication Cant imagine the Beastie's whole albumn without the hip hop elements, is it like the instrumentals in the old albumns?
Aye, along the same lines as 'The Ill Sound from Way Out' which was basically a compilation of all their instrumentals around the time of Ill Communication. Haven't given this new one a proper listen yet but seems pretty good after a quick flick through. Beastie Boys were class before Mixmaster Mike... fair enough he gives them something else but they've always been about more than just hip-hop/rap. Can't think of many other groups/bands that have covered as many genres as they have.
That's why I don't normally like them. Fail to see why everyone bums a few white guys shouting over the top of some drum loops.
i loved the 'sounds of science' best of album, the insert explained how all the tracks included were made, where , who wrote it etc. ill communication takes some beating, hello nasty was ok
Went to see them do an apparent instrumental show in Barcelona last Thursday, but it was them playing as a live band and still shouting over pretty much everything. Was a bit rubbish. Missed them doing their normal show on Friday night as they were on too early.
They are horrendous, i thought they might have been slightly entertaining seeing them live, but i would have rather been tucked up in bed.
I've been told they were better on the second night, but there was so much else on that I wasn't particularly bothered about seeing them. And Sarah, that's just because everything else at Sonar paled into insignificance for you compared to Dizzee Rascal...
