DJ's would include people like Q-Bert, mixmaster mike and other top quality scritchers... I'm always far more impressed with those type artists than bands.
DJs impress me more cos of the music i am into...but live acts such as underworld, nu nrg etc usually impress more than the average dj set
both equal. Soulwax did an amazing DJ set the other month, and Maximo Park did an awesome gig the week after.....
I'd have to go for dj's just because I love dance music much more than anything a band would play!!! That feeling you get when a dj drops one of your favourite tunes is much better than a feeling I could get from watching any band
I would say the two arent really comparable despite both being about loud music played in a club or what not ..... its two different kinds of experiences and emotions.
i would say both........dj playing random beats/breaks..while the band do percusion, extra drum fills, bass and fantastic lead guitar we did it,n it sounded greeeeeeeeat only cos the band r excelant at time keeping, the decks do there own
Depends on what kind of band tho, obviously u get yer rock groups n such, but what about the live p.a. thing thats basically the DJ turned into a 1 man band ( normally it is , sometimes theres more of em )-for dance music, so that can be the same as a DJ's set DJ's all the way tho
depends, personally i find that djing and bands are pretty much no different in performance as a dj will practise mixing and a band will practise the songs they are going to play exclusively... stuff which incorporates the two can be good, can be fuckin awful too i do like a lot of classical music, and genuinely believe that that is more of an artform to watch a whole orchestra play a symphony, 100 people playing a part in the same piece of music is rather special. anybody who is willing to innovate live or bring something new has my respect, and of course please the audience
