On mine, it will only read images from a usb stick..

As for the disks, though, try changing the codec used. Goto Conversion Settings, and what does it say in the boxes at the top? Mine is: The profile is used to create avi(xvid + mp3) file, which can be played on PC or supported device. I set that as my default. You'll want to set the frame rate to 25fps too as that's the Pal standard.

If those are the settings you're using, what codec pack do you have installed on your pc? And what are you using to burn to a disk?

OOh, you don't want to be using h.264. Use the drop down list and choose generic.avi.xvid.mp3 then click the 'set as default' button. That will create avi files that use the xvid codec, and mp3 audio, which are both widely compatible with players.

Nah you won't lose quality. I'm sure when I first recommended this to you, I told you about this stuff :p

You can use SUPER, or Total Video Converter, or AVS Video Converter to convert the files. I've used all three and they're all fine, no noticeable quality loss.

It's becoming popular, and generally allows for better quality results, but compatibility with older equipment obviously goes out the window..
