    'Attractive Football'

With the arrival of Big Sam seeming pretty much certain I want to know why so many people are against him coming just because Bolton play supposedly "boring football".

*Why do a lot of our fans only want a manager who's gonna play attractive football?

    *Why is it so important?

*Where has it got us in the past?

Chelsea aren't exactly mouth-watering to watch, yet they dominated football for 2 seasons running, and could even still end up winning 2 trophy's this year. Would Newcastle fans seriously rather play attractive football and win fuck all, than play affective football that wins games?

not just a point for newcastle...

but defensive football is killing the game... there is a growing trend for unambitious boring football coupled with ridiculous ticket prices and this has driven fans away... i know blackburn, man city and several other smaller premiership clubs cant attract fans to every game... they pick and choose. its not about passion or loyalty, its about money and common sense.

from a personal point of view, boro dont fill the riverside every game after mcclaren drove away fans in the thousands with his truely awful football, we filled the stadium to 35,000 capacity in the championship under robson. mcclarens teams were pure misery to watch at times. he won a cup but will probably be one of the most unpopular managers we've had! just look at how england play under him with far better players.

unattractive football will drive fans away, newcastle are a potentially big club with a bigger fan base than most, but dont think that fans of any club will keep paying to watch shite. fans dont pay £££ to be bored, football used to inspire and delight, now its far too mundane and even predictable. the bubble will burst soon i reckon.

newcastle have the fan base to fill the stadium week in week out, and to be fair you've still finished quite high in some of the seasons where you've played poorly. of course you'd rather results, but teams that play shite footy to get them arent fondly remembered, and usually not overly successful.

I think the players you've had, even when they're not giving 100% are still enough to keep you far enough away from relegation... however, 4-5 seasons finishing mostly in the bottom half and paying high ticket prices would drive fans away from any club, luckily for you lot the past few years you've been finishing in top half european positions bar 00/01, 04/05 and now this season.

I think a lot of newcastle fans forget how the football was beore keegan... unfortunately boro have the same problem with the new generation of fans jumping on the robbo bandwagon and complaining that we dont play like we did with juninho and co.
