read this earlier. comes in, screws our club over then does one? what a cunt.

can only hope that this brings in a better owner who will bring stability, although surely this will raise questions over the ongoing negotiations with shearer?

really really worrying this. Shades of Leeds United. Fuck knows why he thought that buying us was a good idea, was never ever going to make him any money, hes contributed to the club being as fucked as it is and now he wants out. what a cunt.

Aye, were fucked indefinitely when he leaves. We can kiss goodbye to the likes of Beye, Duff, Taylor etc... as who ever comes in certainly wont keep them on the wages there currently getting - All of whom could walk into teams like Burnley, Blackburn, Hull that need to strengthen their squad for next season (Unless of course they have someone lined up thats daft enough to inject millions into the Club in hope we can climb back up either this or next season?).

What a complete knacker this bloke is, comes in & turns the Club into a complete joke over the space of 2 seasons, forces players to leave, pushed 1 Manager out, brought a no-hoper in, put the club up for sale & then denied it, played the largest part in us being relegated & now wants out for the 3rd time in 12 month as were in the shit.

It's beyond words what he said in a recent interview:
"I’ve lost my money and I’ve made terrible decisions. Now I want to sell it as soon as I can . . . advisers will be appointed shortly. I never said I was an expert in football clubs. I was just a fan – although a very wealthy fan"

...Cheers mate, after seeing us relegated you now tell us that the decisions you made were catastrophical & you really didn't know that much about Football after all? Madness.

    Shearers not that bad man.

Wasn't it the fans that forced him to put it up for sale the last time.

Lol - more Joe 'Heart scare Millionaire' Kinnear.

Fans can only kick & scream so much, I walk into work slating the director every day & contesting some of his decisions - I doubt that would ever force him to up sticks & leave tho, Ashley has himself to blame. This would have been a brilliant move for the Club had he decided not to ask for the 400m he was last year & settled for £80m like he's now looking for, we would have been snapped up pretty much instantly.

    haha
Ashley was a fool for thinking he'd get 400million for the club which he'd put into a a right state. You's now need someone who will buy it, make a small investment for this season, get ya's back up then pump more money into it. There's nee profit in owning football clubs now and its so risky it'll be hard finding a new owner.

Aye your right, but I honestly doubt we'll get anyone in that would stick serious cash in us with the aim of going straight back up, if this goes ahead we'll loose all the players that pledged their future (so be it for the wages their on) & can see us floating round in the Championship for years to come

It's mad how one man can do so much damage. If he wasnt so greedy he could of sold it for 200million or the price he paid, and got his money back

Definitely, he refused to even live up here & tried to run a multi-million pound business from the other end of the Country, it may work for his retail stores but a Football club is a million miles apart. Like he said some crazy decisions have been made this season. I throughly agree also if he'd wanted out so quickly he could have easily taken what he paid for the Club before Xmas.

    ... Doomed.

the players who are saying they're staying is absolutely cracking me up- have any of them actually said they'll take a wage cut to stay? I really doubt it. They want to hang around and pick up massively over the top wages they have done pretty much fuck all to deserve. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of players in the current squad who I would actually like to stay and I doubt any of them will. Starting to really worry about next season, anyone who puts money on us to win the championship is a proper mug like

it was in a bad enough state under freddy shepherd, so i don't think any of the fans thought it could get any worse when ashley too over. we were, however, to be proved wrong!

There is a plus side to all of this in that Ashley has wiped out the club's debt.

Even given the pickle we're in now with premiership players on championship wages, it means we're not in as bad a mess financially as we were two years ago.

No he hasn't, he just made interest free loans to the club. We still owe the money, but to him instead of a bank.

    Eh how?

If thats the case it doesn't say a great deal for Sunderland then? Granted we've never been in the run in for any Silverware since the Keegan era in 96 but other than that we were certainly under no threat of being relegated?
In the 16 or so years we've been in the top flight we've never finished as poorly as you's have this Season (having also spent £80m over the past 2 years).
Lest we forget here you's were also fighting a relegation battle which boiled down to the last game of the season - Good going eh...

    Rudderless ship springs to mind.

Nah, Sam was a renowned defensive tactical manager yet made ours progressively worse in the space of time he was there.

Briliant Manager for Bolton, steadied Blackburn to safety & did a job, he was dreadful at the Town.

Granted Managers need time but if we have of kept him on any longer we would have been in WBrom's position this season & kissed goodbye to the Premiership long before the last game of the season.
