Ashley deserves the crap he's getting... Dave Whelan, Wigan chairman, says Mike Ashley "deserves the flak" he's getting. Story
i don't think he does tbf! if what he said in his statement is true then i think you lot are mad. he's ploughed millions into the club to ease debt worries!! when he sacked fat sam ( ) & brought back king lol: ) kev you lot were buzzing! At the end of the day keegan is a quitter, dummy out the pram and all that. He wanted the likes of lampard, ronaldhino, henry etc and just because your owner dosen't want to get the club in more debt he walks?!?! some messiah . i agree wise was always an unusual appointment but ashley was getting you's back 'on track'.
I can't believe the amount of people buying into Ashley's statement. It's yet another one of his ways of trying to get everyone his side. The fact is he's played the Newcastle fans and Keegan for fools. Ashley is preaching to us saying"ive put X amount into the club...ive cleared the debt and i was going to be putting in £20million of my own money into the club a year". He says he cares about the club and is not in it for the money, and then says he has listened to us and is putting the club up for sale. Yes, for DOUBLE the amount of money you have spent on it you t**t! The appointment of Wise is ridiculous. I know the players we have brought in look like decent signings, and Wise may turn out to be a decent scout...who knows. But Ashley being a businessman (a successful one at that) why did he decide to appoint someone who was obviously going to cause problems between Keegan and the board. Surely, if a director of football is appointed then the manager and chairman would work together to find a suitable candidate. After all he is going to be the main line of communication between them both and would therefore need to be someone that they could BOTH work with. Then when Keegan resigns you get Newcastle releasing a statement saying he always had the final say on any signings. Then when it becomes apparent that this WASN'T the case and Newcastle release another statement claiming Keegan knew from the beginning what the structure was and he agreed to it. And then they try to ridicule him by saying he identified Henry, Beckham, etc as players he wanted to buy. What a ridiculous thing to suggest when everyone knows that Keegan was after a left back and right winger to replace Milner (who was sold against his wishes). Anyone who buys into what Ashley has been saying in his statement is blind to the events that have taken place before and after Keegan resigned. I agree that Keegan is a hot head which has been shown in the past but to blame him for all of this is ludicrous.
 i cannot get over how many people refer to it as being "Ashley's statement". it might have his name on it but he didnt write it. hell i did that at school once and got a weeks detention and me Mam and Dad were sent a letter!
lets be honest, keegan wasn't the right man for the job anyway! admitted he hadn't watched a live game for almost two year, but the streets of tyneside were shacking with excitement when he returned. 99% of you lot probably hadn't even thought about getting him back when fat sam left, now 100% are kicking right off coz he's quit!! whats he done for you anyway? fuck all last season apart from beating us and nothing when he was in charge the first time apart from 'come close' (bottle it), then he quit! keegans fault!!
