Hi folks, a was browsin YouTube n found probly, the best DJ interview ive ever heard/watched, armin talking about, well his start as a dj, how he feels about Us the ppl, and his music, what it takes be become a dj, how to be Original, sander does the same, ive had no choice but to share this with who evers Not seen it :) mass respect to those 2 they seem, how can i put it... so down to earth, they wud probly buy u a drink if u saw them in a bar  kinda puts a lid on any1 tryin to make it world wide without production, 1 track is all it takes, they make it sound so easy... trance and djing requires 2 things i suppose, Passion & determination like armin says, thank the stars above that wor Armin, Pvd, Tiesto, Ferry etc etc had that in them, or god knows what we'd be listening to:lol: .....

Erm, yes, you did have a choice.

Honestly, are both your hands broken or something? I'm yet to read a post of yours that makes sense.

It's like reading a text message sent by an 8 year old. An 8 year old with very little intelligence and an alarming infatuation with Tiesto.

I think they both are wrong in the fact that dj's need to make their own music to become successful. Over half the main trance dj's made it big without producing any music, i think Sander is speaking from his point of view, he's not the best dj, but gets sets due to him producing which isn't the way it should be ImO

Could someone translate that post for me?

It's ok Rory, I know you're sweating on these SATS results but don't worry- You'll learn how to read, write and formulate an argument someday...

    Cheers

i have to disagree wit your first statement like mate. only really eddie halliwell who has made it big without producin trance tunes.

and sander van doorn is fuckin mint. he's played some unreal sets. i like him just as much as a dj as i do a prducer. he's the main person i'm lookin forward to seein at global next weekend.

I'm not saying he's not a good dj, everytime i've seen him he's been canny, i just don't believe a dj needs to produce music to get to the top. The majority of the big trance dj's weren't producing tunes before they got where they are, thats just a natural progression that happens with their careers. What i was saying about sander is the fact that he was a producer first, then he was getting sets off the back of it to promote his music.

Fuck me, atleast sum1 kinda agrees with me  a think its a shambles how on every post good or bad on this forum theres always a few sticks in the mud to cause, basicaly a Mountain out of a mole hill.

Anyway, the facts are, if u cant Produce, ur chances r Very slim makin it "World Wide" good on eddie tho, he made it world wide, for being "Original" as armin and sander states in that interview, and alot of djs can make it big without producing, i agree with that, but there hardly gonna make it world wide, using other djs music isnt Original, i think it every time i do a set aswell, anyway a didnt mean to cause a fuckin uproar here, a simple posted a video with my piece of mind, which wasnt intended to case a stink.

If their good enough, they should be able too. And dj sets is not all about playing other peoples music either, a creative dj is a top dj, as eddie has proved. Thats why he's up there on his own, as most of the big dj's aren't anywhere near as creative with their sets

ok i do agree what can i say to that, eddie done well, but haway, whats the chances of makin it world wide now when not producing, there is ways i suppose, but the chances r slim id rather produce a good track and know ill get somewhere thansit and hope some1 picks up on skills i may have. It can happen but theres to much competition, 2 many ppl are tryin to make it world wide without producing, respect to djs here and beyond whove made it big anywhere without producing tho, but theres only room for so many going that way round, id say work on a track and get picked up on ur skills ppl like.

At the end of the day i can't complain about the way it is now with producers dj'ing and vice versa as the amount of good trance being churned out is the best its been for years, so maybe its good for the scene/genre, time will tell

maybe this used to be true but i think these days with the amount of djs out there and the accessibility of music and production software someone is gonna find it very hard to make a living as just a DJ without making tracks.

I dont understand why people who DJ wouldnt wanna make there own tracks to play out anyway if there passionate about music.

I see what people are saying, but my point is alot of producers get the best gigs because of their productions and not because of what they can do as a dj or what they have done as a dj, which is a poor way to run things as alot of very talented hard working dj's miss out on top gigs. Fair play to any dj's making music, alot of graft goes into it so they've got full respect for that
