Are some food companies breaking the trades description act? I've noticed with some food, for example Currys where if you look at the break down of ingredients, Beef or Chicken in a Beef/Chicken Curry is only about 20% of the whole product. I've seen the same with Orange Juice, but that was 15% I always thought to call something a certain product it had to contain at least 40% of it. I don't see how companies get away with this when they hardly contain what they call the food
There's nothing in the trade description act about how much of each food there has to be in it. Aslong as they declare whats in it they aren't breaking any rules. And before ya try and argue i'm studying it at uni at the mo so i know what i am talking about.
Legalities aside they KNOW it's not a chicken curry which is just as bad. 2 chunks of meat doesn't make it a chicken curry, but then again how is the customer suppose to know, you can't inspect the food until you've bought and cooked it
If you look in the ingredients they normally tell you how much meat there is in a percentage of the total uncooked weight.
they dont have any crab in them, they just have crab flavouring, they are made out of fish! shaun - how nice is crab salad sandwiches, oh my god, i just about live on them!! total crab salad overload!!!
If you were to go into an indian restaurant and order a beef curry, and the meal came on a big fuckka of a plate and you counted 2 shitty pieces of beef in it, could you honestly tell me you wouldn't be mildly pissed off. Bought in a restuarant or in a packet from iceland, you expect a CHICKEN curry. I don't think it's too much to ask for a decent portion do you
I aint arguing with ya. I agree its shit that they can get away with it, but your orgininal question was how can they get away with it and i was only trying to point out that they weren't breaking any laws.
