Well campers, we will wait no longer, the Duke is here! Comments/Reviews: Late last year Adam Dyment beat all comers worldwide to win the Diesel U-Music award, an accolade previously won by DJ Yoda and Mylo. Under his alias Duke Dumont, the 24-year-old conjured a noisy fusion of hip hop and mutant house from his twin laptops. Since his triumph the Duke is leading the charge of the kids inspired by the jerky, histrionic productions of Justice and Switch. With a Missy Elliot bootleg We Run This doing the rounds and releases due on Tiga’s Turbo and Wall Of Sound this year, Duke is keeping it regal. (Dummy Mag, 2007) Lords, ladies and gentlemen, may we please present the hottest toff to rock a DJ box, the asbo aristo, the one, the only, Duke Dumont. Rumour has it that the man responsible for last year’s banging remix of Missy Elliott’s We Run This is the lovechild of the Earl of Rochester and his maidservant. Raised in an orphanage, the story goes, he learnt to fend for himself by forging ear-drum-bursting beats and funk-drenched basslines. “I walk with kings, but shall always maintain the common touch,” he graciously states on his regal MySpace page. Another rumour claims he’s plain old Adam Dyment from north west London – but when his music’s this good, who cares?
