Can mac users watch wma files? There are a few I want to taunt with that video...

Mostly graphic designers and PR types. That's a surprise.

I'm still trying to understand how macs are better...

    1. The hardware costs more to buy upgrade and repair.

    2. Mac charge you to upgrade the os even if it's the same version that they have fixed original software faults (ala osx, osx panther).

    3. High-end Macs are noisy as fuck and the newer units (dual cpu G5) have had some terrible hardware/support problems (the power packs are cheap and they create interference that is actually picked up by the sound card so not the best for studio use).

    4. If aesthetics are your thing you can get windows boxes that are just as pretty as any mac.

    5. Windows is now very stable (2000/xp) and easily runs for four weeks without needing a reboot, panther is not as stable as that?

    6. They are also slower either for your £ spent or in the 'if money is no object' category and have been for about 2-3 years.

I'm basing my opinions on actually owning both macs (G3 imac) and pcs running windows & linux and also being quite well read on the subject.

    However......

    nice lcd screens. :D

    Simple answer.....

PC's don't run Logic, IMO the best music production software, Mac's do therefore I have a Mac!

It's true, it's the same with Final Cut Pro, I just wonder how long they can keep customers based on that alone.

Ive been there, it's easier to get websites to work properly on my p900 (opera) than a mac, I hear good things about the new browser though, think it's called Safari?

mac's arent all bad - i had an ibook and it was MINT!

    Safari is amazing aswell.

Only hassle was getting filesharing to work between my windows 2000 network and the mac... needed some sodding around to get working.

They are great as long as you do a set number of "regular" things on them - no good for pc tweakers and power users.... it was great for surfing, chatting and movies etc though.

Yeah that's where we've ended up as well, I've got a spell check applet that IE just wasn't interested in at all but works fine on safari.

Has been a head knacking few days though

it depends ... for a thousand pounds for a new ibook you get something that the average person wouldnt need anything else for... you have music, cd burning, email, internet... etc etc.

    Its the perfect "lifestyle" appliance.

Having said that, im a web developer and general geek so yeah its useless as a full time machine for me - but i can see their vision.

Im glad i have an ipod - if you do it the way they tell you to (using itunes and stuff) its brilliant.........

and at the end of the day, anything non microsoft dominated has to be good, without having to grow a linux beard :)
