Appealing Parking Fines? I was parked in one of those residential streets coming off Osbourne Road in Jesmond last night. I pulled into the space and directly across the road there was a sign with all the parking restrictions on which said I could park anytime after 6:30pm. A few hours later I come back to my car and ive got a ticket. About 15-20 yards away on my side of the road there was a sign with different parking restrictions on which said that you cant park on this side of the road between the hours of 6-10pm. Is there any chance that I could successfully appeal this fine under the grounds that it is misleading? Pretty much no chance id imagine but its worth a shot. Most people would expect that the whole that section/the whole street would have the same parking restrictions not one rule for one side and another rule for the other and tbh, that £30 could be spent a lot better than lining the councils pocket Lesson learned for next time
It was on the North East news the other week about the fucked up/confusing parking restrictions in Jesmond. I'm sure the council are looking into it. I say give it a shot mate. The issue's already been highlighted so it's defo worth a try. Good luck son
no chance mate, you do have to be careful around there but they will never take that as a valid reason not to have a permit. The sign only applies to the bay it's next to! no harm in trying mind but it will get nowhere
I'd imagine there's definitely grounds for it mate. I've appealed two tickets that I got for parking outside of my workplace down on the quayside. There are two bays in front of the building big enough for 3 cars each, it wasn't a ticket machine area, so I just parked up, and I got ticketed in the same place twice. However... 1) The yellow lines were broken (they'd faded, cracked and hadn't been repainted - there wasn't one spot where there was more than 1 ft of solid yellow line) 2) There was no visible traffic restriction signs. So I sent them this along with these, and managed to get both revoked. I think parking there now is probably a stupid idea as the parkies will be keeping a lookout for my car now You need to check the following are correct on the ticket: 1- TICKET REFERENCE NUMBER 2- VEHICLE REGISTRATION NUMBER 3- VEHICLE MAKE AND COLOUR 4- LOCATION, DATE AND TIME OF ALLEGED OFFENCE 5- ATTENDANT WARDEN NUMBER 6- CONTRAVENTION CODE AND DESCRIPTION 7- PENALTY , INCLUDING DISCOUNTS FOR PROMP PAYMENT. 8 - DATE OF ISSUE 9 - DATE OF OFFENCE if ANY of the above is incorrect, the ticket is invalid and you can appeal the ticket on those grounds alone. You can appeal tickets in the newcastle area through the council's website. If you want some expert advice on whether your ticket was valid or not, I'd ask on pepipoo - there's lots of people on there who can help out, and it won't cost you anything. Confusing and/or misleading signage is definitely grounds for appeal
id say appeal i used to have a visitors permit for myhosue in jesmond but there was always more than1 car visiting and a few got tickets revoked. worth a shot
I got a ticket a few months ago in Alnwick just after the clocks had gone forward. It was 11:30am and he had put time of offence as 12:15pm because he obviously hadnt reset his watch or had looked for the time somewhere where it hadnt been reset. Took it straight to the council offices and showed them it stating I couldnt be ticketed for an offence that happened in the future. Filled out a claim form and never heard owt since
Alot of permit zones have different rules for each side of the road. It's the same where I work in Hartlepool, I bought a permit a few weeks ago and nearly got a ticket because I parked in a business permit zone instead of a AA parking zone. I got away with it cos it was the first day though. It's proper confusing!
There a pack of fucking wankers, the most corrupt thing i have ever come across. Best thing to do is pay it, then if you ever see 1 in the future wind your window down and shout abuse at them, thats all i ever do.
