totally, i wasn't 'out' out for the leeds 1, but was around the area at the time - proper party atmos. It died big time with newcastle - it it had really gone off, it could still have been going now - albeit supported by Radio 1

Leeds one was good, although was a complete shambles too from what I remember. Sid Fox bus was about the best thing going on, and their evening do was class. But even there they had loads of problems.....

Was a shame it didn't happen here. Liebing was due to play on at the boat the night before had it gone ahead, but unfortunately they bottled it and fucked the rabble alliance thing off, still got the flyer though.....

The mini rave we had in exhibition park was a good laugh though, loads of systems blasting techno

I was absolutely heartbroken when they cancelled it at the last minute. I'd been to the one in Leeds the year before and it was fucking class, the floats, the stage, the crowd and the DJs were all brilliant.

I remember they were telling people not to go to Newcastle but we still came over anyway and the atmosphere all over the city was still class. We even met Pete Tong down at the Quayside after he'd been shopping :D

Can you remember the Red Bull truck in exhibition park where the DJ had a set of decks on top the roof? That was class...

    Happy memories :)

Was a shame the Toon one didn't go ahead. Was still some good parties going off though.

Missed out on the Leeds one too after giving myself food poisoning off some sausages I'd cooked.

Lost a stone in 3 days mind...!

fuck me that love parade was an absolute shambles, pulling together that free party in exhibition park in a week was funny though. I particularly liked it when the council rocked up with a load of toilets halfway through the afternoon that they'd been planning to just distribute randomly around the town, and the police asking us what time we wanted to finish.

the open topped love bus going round town with a sound system on top picking people up and taking them to exhibition park was a bit of a masterstroke as well IMO.

We were originally meant to have had Hardfloor playing live at the racecourse on the saturday til the council fucked that up by suddenly realising they needed the racecourse car parks for park and ride, and giving us the option of either giving up the venue, or the love parade not happening.

the boat remains the most expensive party I've ever not put on, as the boat pulled out as soon as the love parade cancelled.

fav quote of the love parade was mark deakin when I was suggesting running the free party in exhibition park at a meeting of promoters... "yeah but you're a raver not a club promoter"

gav the flyer for the boat party on the tyne that never happpened was the most mind bendingly confusing flyer I have ever tried to read, it was yellow and red and the print was small as f*** it seriously was the worst poster ever

on the plus side tho , if it had went ahead you had kosheen on the lineup before they were famous

we should do our own love parade

why do you need corporate backing

oh how the police would enjoy that. there are an endless array of people in newcastle who's job description reads ' stop all fun happening' and they all love exercising their bit of power whenever they get the chance. if they could have us all tucked up in bed as soon as we finish watching look north they would be made up. how about a 'health and safety parade'? could just consist of event marshals, police, st johns ambulances and health and safety officers walking along a hazard taped route with no music and an endless row of portable toilets. alcohol free lager in every pub and no smoking.

the leeds one was absolutley mint the year before. morillo, emerson and sasha finished the main stage - was jumping. never seen so many people.

newcastle obviously bottled it last minute. saw pete bong at sea doing the essential selection. wasn't great.

went to the arena on the sat night. good line up from what i remember - lawler, sasha, digweed and others.

the police said not enough car parking spaces had been provided for the expected amount of punters. jesus. I can remember being so ashamed that the 'party city' had been left looking so useless.....
