Any ideas My boss has buggared his PC up it keeps powering up then comes up with a message saying either start up in safe mode with prompts, commands but if you click on it it powers itself down and doesnt work
windows system files are stuffed. 2 steps : 1) boot to XP disk (if it is XP) and go to recovery console, run chkdsk /r to fix any errors. once complete, reboot 2) boot to XP disk again, install XP, choose the drive it's already installed on, it'll detect the current XP install, select it and it'll re-copy over all the system files again. it'll take a while and ain't straight forward but it will fix it. tell him to stop doing dodgy things on it.
