Just buy a midi keyboard such as an oxygen 8 it allows you play all the vst's though it such as the ones on reasons and any others you download(Buy). You can get one for about £70

You can allways just just draw the notes from the vst's into the sequencer but its good to be able to play along with tracks as well so you get a feel for where the sounds sit.

You can download vst's to run with the sequencer i am not sure what comes with cubase.

If its a crack then the vst's might not be with it.

there should be vsts with cubase sx.
and no you dont need a keyboard. i dont use one, mainly cos i find it easier drawing a few notes in the sequencer and changing the sound on the vst til' i like what i here. less power is used aswell.

stock vst's are alright, but you'll find them fairly limiting after a while, there's some nice aftermarket ones about

like james said get something like the oxygen 8, if youve got the money get a one with a few more octaves on as the oxy 8 only spans to 2 or 3 from what i remember.

like lamb said you dont need any hardware to get started, you can draw the notes in which can be painstaking but each to there own!

good luck with your vst hunt! :D

The oxygen 8 pretty good for what you pay. A full range keyboard would be better.

I don't mind drawing notes in. But you can work faster and be more creative with a keyboard as it give you more options with the assignable dials for playing along with tracks and recording tweaks as you do them.

One of the reasons i love hardware is the fact it much easyier to tweak stuff on the fly.

My housemate has got a Virus B snyth and its sick the things you can do with it,you basically make a lead line and just use filters and and effects played live to add dynamics to it as you go along.
