Totally agree what a heap of shite, Maia was never going to match him striking, so he was acting on like an utter tool, I'd love to see him do that in K1, he's get his cocky head knocked off him.

I didnt mind him taking the piss but if you are going to do that then finish the fight.Would love to see him fight GSP if it was at welter if that fight doesnt happen Im not really bothered about seeing Silva fight again

Unfortunately that'd never happen, Dana's said it's the last thing he wants to happen, said Silva's too big, and he knows if GSP get's tooled that his appeal factor will drop.

Rogan and Goldberg seemed to think its was a cert until after the fight. If that fight doesnt happen Dana needs to try and push for SIlva to move to 205 permanantly atleast there are 4 or 5 decent fights for him there. The middleweight division is pretty shit at the minute

This is probably the reason why hes seemed disinterested in his last 3 or fights in the weight class. The only fight left worth seeing is him vs Wandy but i still think he will have no major problems knocking him out.

He needs a real challenge and 205 is the weight class is the most likely place hes going to get it. The only issue there is his freindship with Machida but who knows where the belt will be if Silva ever gets in line for a shot at the 205 title?

Hes friends whith shogun too although shogun says hes game to fight him, I think wanderlei would have no chance as much as I like him its 5 years to late for that fight. Its annoying that we arent seeing the best of an obviously talented fighter

People are missing the obvious question imo...

If Silva is a credited BJJ black belt.. why not get down and work the groundgame with Maia? Everyone is shouting about Maia having the best BJJ in MMA and then they're going on about Silva being best pound for pound in the world... so why not test yourself? Give it a crack...

My preferred fight would be a special fight between Silva and Fedor... the two that MMA fans all over the world class as the best p4p. Fedor would break him.

If not... then at least thow him in with Lesnar... let him pummel him.

Because that would be the most ridiculous thing to do.. there's a massive difference between the two.

I was under the impression that black belt was the highest ranking you could get in BJJ...

Edit - just looked and it appears red is the highest you can go :\

Oh and Maia is a 2nd degree black belt... I thought he was just a 1st deg like Silva...

They throw BJJ black belts around nowadays for anything, it's more down to who he got the black belt from, and Damian's grappling credentials are insanely good.
And anyway Silva knew where his strength and where Maia's weaknesses were, playing into the other guy's strength in any fight is a bad move.

Look at GSP vs Hardy, imo GSP's stand up is far better, but he played to his strength and avoided Hardy's.

I hope the UFC make a move for Jacare soon, he's another unbelievable grappler.

I'm not sure how much faith I have in the whole red belt thing.. I was under the impression that black i the highest you can rank to in BJJ. The reason why there's such a big gap between Silva and Maia though is because Maia is a world champion with his BJJ, whereas Silva is a striker with a black belt to fall back on.. It's a massive difference in the level of skill. Just like Noguiera is rated for his BJJ, he's not very highly rated in the world of BJJ. Vinny Maghales who was a contestant on TUF a year or so ago commented on how Nog's BJJ was a bit 'bread and butter' and it seemed to piss people off, but it was true.

There's lots of shit kicking off because Anderson didn't have his gloves taped up during the fight...

    Margarito anyone lol?

Him tiring and barely able to throw a punch the last two rounds, Maia's broken orbital bone...conspiracy theory time
