    Most are totally rubbish, a few are excellent though it depends greatly. If we're talking about hi-fi here then my preferance is definately seperate amp and speakers but if we're talking PA it's a bit different. I have a small PA system I use Mackie SR450s they sound fantastic and are extremely loud for their size (especially when used as mid/highs) but they will set you back around £1250 :(

    What was it you were thinking of getting?

    Get the cheapest NAD amp you can afford from Richer Sounds, they work well with decks.

    A Pre Amp is designed to work with a main Amp. Not alone.
