Alternatives to Virgin broadband when you have a cable phone line through them... Are there any or am I gonna have to sign up with Virgin? Had the phone line installed today and didn't realise I'd not be able to use 02 for the interweb as the phone line's cable. Was gonna be £120 to get the BT phone line connected.
Most "other" broadband services require you to have a bt phone line m8, virgin broadband is spot on tho i reckon !!

In addition to trialling the technical capabilities of the DOCSIS 3.0 network, the trial will explore the demand for higher upstream speeds for bandwidth hungry families, on services such as video conferencing, multiplayer gaming and home working. This week the company will also launch the “Freedom” netbook, its first ever branded laptop. The bespoke laptop, available in black or Virgin red, has been optimised for 50Mb speeds and will be packaged with top of the line software. Both new and existing customers will be able to get the laptop at no additional charge when they take selected great value bundled packages. i fancy this deal esp with freenet book does getting "a virgin phone line" mean i dont need a BT Phone line? i thought BT had the monop
You have to be in a cable area to get virgin, 90% of washington is cabled, as is most of penshaw. but no, you dont need BT line if the cable is there. go on virgin media website, stick ya postcode in and it tells you if your house has cable we have a mint deal with virgin! £65, V+ box, all the sports and movies plus XL tv pack, 10meg broadband and phoneline, plus and extra box upstairs
i pay £70 a month for the xl tv, phoneline, 20mb broadband and 2 extra set top boxes. it should be around £92 so by getting the 3 it saves me £17. ive had the same contract for a couple of years & ive not had any issues with any of their services. the one time the broadband did go down they had someone round the next morning. the more shit you signup to with them the bigger discount they give on the bundles. i did toy with 50mb as its not on virgins traffic management at the minute but it will be eventually and 20mb is more than adequate i reckon. ive not had any issues with any of their services.

We had the 20meg but didnt see the point in having it so changed to 10meg, our d/load speed is running at 9meg, you only really benefit from 20meg+ if you an online gamer, which we arent so 10meg suits us fine. We can get another set-top box too for an extra £5 a month. Does yours include the V+ box or just standard box? and is it the movies and sports too???
it includes one V+ box in the lounge and the other 2 in the bedrooms are the standard boxes, the extra boxes cost £9.50 a month each. i have tried to haggle them into doing it for the new lower price of £5 but they're having none of it it doesn't include sky sports, i will be putting that back on when the footy season starts.
