Allergies I'm prone to getting allergies so yesterday i went for a food allergy test at the metrocentre. Turns out I shouldn't be eating anything with wheat in it, chilli, beef or sweets. I fucking love sweets, put chilli in almost everything I eat and beef is brilliant. Wheat is in quite a lot of stuff too.. It's going to be shit at dinner time from now on..
Re: Allergies Where in the metro? And how much?? Im definately allergic to something coz i'm constantly getting constipation then the trots.
im allergic to wheat, dairy products, and a whole list of other things, like enamel, china (not the country), animal food, fly paper, and loads more!! im not meant to eat choccie, or milk or cheese or cereal....which is what i live on!!
are you not just intolerant? cause being allergic to something makes you very ill if you eat it. If you intolerant you can still eat the stuff you jsut might feel a bit dodgy, but if you can put up with it then just carry on as usual.
Not really. Being allergic means the body's immune system responds to the food. Intolerance means the body cannot properly process the food but there is no immunological response The severity of either can be massively varied and symptoms of intolerance can be more severe than those of allergies
Someone I used to work with is a coeliac. Must be a nightmare. I'm allergic to nuts, mostly peanuts, but I've also got to stay clear of lentils, baked beans etc as they've from the same food group. It's amazing how many foods you've got to stay clear of which you wouldn't necessarily think contained those products. Most chocolate I have to avoid, some types of bread, can't really eat oriental food due to cross contamination and use of peanut oil...

Definately allergic. I don't have bad reactions in the sense that I could be rushed into hospital, it can just cometimes cause a rash or swelling of the eyes.. The bloke said that even though I eat a lot of chilli and don't seem to have a reaction, it could be a prolonged buildup from eating it that can cause what always appears to be a sudden reaction/outbreak. There were other things such as chocolate and mushrooms but I hardly ever eat chocolate and the latter is sick anyway. @ Den, it was in that little village bit in the metrocentre just before you get to Costa ( coming in from the cinema end) I'll find the name of the shop for you if you like as I wasn't paying attention at all.. it was my mam who discovered it. The bloke just sits in the back.. seems very unprofessional but he had hundreds of things to test for although I would recommend trying somewhere else as for £40 I feel it was a bit of a rip-off. He never wrote anything down during the whole test and I was expecting a print-off but instead he just highlighted things that I'm allergic to. He appeared to know his stuff but only when I asked him things.. I feel like he should have been telling me things himself. Try those herbal shops.. the ones with the asian birds always standing in the doorway. There's also a test you can order off the internet where you send it back with a blood sample and it gets analysied. £250 for the 113 foods test, £125 for the 42 foods test and/or there's a £19.99 test you can get first to let you know if any allergies you have are food related. http://www.yorktest.com/
