    advice on a new self build

    am looking to build a new system but havent done so for about 5 years and havent keapt in touch with teccy goings on since i got a life........ so i need some advice. What standard/type of mobo should i get and what fitting of processor???

    i will probs just be getting the kit from Computer Orbit so if u can name stuff they stock it would be great. I am looking for a mid to high end mobo with a midrange processor.

    WHAT SOCKET and chipset should i be looking for

    doesnt matter.

    get the best spec you can for your money.

    chipset shmipset unless you wanna start spending mega money, thats when it makes a difference.

    for general pc usage - owt will do :up:

    Iv gone for the Acer Aspire T160 for £400

    Are the days of self builds being cheaper than packages gone??????????

    Thats what I'm planning on doing..
    That chip is gonna be so fast its unreal..

    Plus.. by the looks of things there also gonna be pretty cheap..

    just about - and has been for a long while. buying the parts means u can customise it more - but you'l only be saving a few quid here and there.

    shit didn't see that one, thats uber cheap, do you get a keyboard and mouse and monitor with that? i know its on the picture but it doesn't actually say.

    Conroe is actually going to wipe the floor with it's rivals apparently....

    Thats a class deal though!! Might even get one meself...my PC is facked.

    Conroe is wiping the floor with them.
    An E6600 (2.6Ghz and 4MB cache) completly destroys an FX-62 (AM2) oc'ed to 3Ghz..
