    accurate bpm counters

anyone know the best way to get an accurate bpm counter, preferably to 2 decimal places???

will a computer programme be best to count in through an input, or would a piece of hardware do the job?

From what I have seen in the past, you will be hard pressed to find a BPM counter capable of counting to two decimal places....will be very hard to get such accuracy I should imagine!

Red Sounds do a good BPM counter apparently, and its not all that expensive.

Saying that though, even the "best" BPM counters still arn't all that great, and can vary quite a bit.

If there is a BPM counter capable of counting to two decimal places, I should imagine that it will be software, but again I doubt it!

What is it that you will be using it for?

we are using it to get an accurate bpm of a record, and using the decks in conjunction with ableton live.

We have sorted it now anyway...

Ableton had a bpm accurate to 2dp btw...so you can get them..

You should find that Acid Pro will work it out to 3dp using its in-built beatmapper.

On me CDJ800 its always faster than the DJM500 even when its pitched in, something i found strange seen as there both Pioneer Products :spangled: :spangled:

i've got a numark beatkeeper you can have for £20 +pp (negotiable), accurate to one decimal place.

It's pretty good, its got two LED displays, up to four channels, etc.

Got it free with my first pair of decks.

it's hard to tell which ones are accurate because they all varey so much!i d/led one that went to .2 decimal places but it was about 5 bpm different to ableton and was constantly changing!

we want one that is consistent with ableton live so will try acid pro!

You'll find with acid that it works off the first downbeat of the track and then measures a sequence of 4 beats...and then you get to inspect each measure after that. It may be a case that you have to tweak it slightly, which you can do manually by typing in the bpm, or changing the lengths of the loop within the beatmapper to get the best results, but you should find it to be fairly accurate.
