About restoring an ipod.. I've just done this but now when i connect it to the pc with the usb cable, an icon of a power adaptor and a power outlet is displayed on the screen and i cant do anything else. When I was restoring the ipod I missed a few popup boxes which i think were asking me to choose options so I hope i didnt choose 'would you like itunes to fuck up your ipod?' :s
Try a reset/reboot - Hold Menu & Select until it reboots and shows the Apple logo. If that fails - try the restore again - it might not have worked properly. are u using the option within itunes 7?
I dropped mine at the gym a few weeks back and it was completely wrecked... all it would display was a 'disk error' icon on the screen and nothing worked. Reseting, disk mode, bashing it about ... nothing. BUT - i connected it up to my xbox360 as a last ditch attempt to fix it, and the 360 managed to boot it up and read it as a disk, this managed to do what the apple software couldnt, and it works perfectly again now
my mate had problems with his - it fucked up when iTunes7 was updating the firmware - the only thing we could do was get an eariler updater, the Jan06 one, restore to that firmware - THEN let iTunes7 have another crack at it. That fixed it too.
Last week I dropped mine down the toilet, pre-flush!!! All it does now is load apple screen, the dsplays an unhappy ipod image! Cannot get windows/mac to recognise it to allow format etc! Rather gutted, so any suggestions welcomed, apart from the obvious "dont drop it down the toilet"
I dropped mine and had the unhappy ipod screen coming up and lost the entire library so I emailed Apple from their website. They sent UPS out the next day, who put it in a box and sealed it up in front of me and sent it back. A few days later I checked the progress online and it said they were sending a brand new ipod out to me This ones still working fine! I was expecting them to say it was my own fault as Id been taking it into work.
apparently the icon i have on mine means i need to connect it to a plug socket charger, not the usb since usb isnt powerful enough to update the firmware. When i do this though my ipod doesnt do anything I think i need an apple charger cos mine is just 3rd party. I cant do anything with ituns to roll back on updates and whatnot since connecting the usb cable is useless.
i update my firmware all the time - i don't have a USB charger. mine is only a nano. as long as it's full charger when u start its fine
