    a periodical backup program

    guys,

at work we have a server with my information on it. every couple of days i copy the folders which are important onto my machine as a backup, but im sick of doing this.

I need a backup program which can fish from a shared network drive and copy folders from it to my machine connected on the network.

does anyone know any software which is very basic and free that can do this task for me?

Backup Exec is good like, easy to use too....but its not cheap and you need some expensive media to go with it...

Nass - Do you have your folder on the server mapped as a network drive on your pc? Do you not have Syncronisation turned on? You can set it to Syncronise files on log off/shut down which will update your network folder (local version) with the files from the server.

Therefore if the server goes down, you can access the same documents locally, and you don't need to worry about losing them

You just need to map your network share as a drive on your PC if you aint done that, so when you go to my computer for example, you wil see something like:

    "Nass on SERVER\WhateverFolder ( Z: )"

Chris, 'CompanyShared' (S: drive) is visible in My Computer as a mapped network drive.

On the server, this is just a folder within C drive, C:\CompanyShared

How do I turn Syncronisation on from there to my PC?
