    A disk error has occured??

    A disk error has occured
    press ctrl alt del to re-start.

    This message appears when my girlfriend starts up her computer,, is it fucked??

    no just your hard drive, need a new one

    How could it have happend? It was working fine this morning, will that cost a lot??

    sometimes they jsut fuck it mate nothing you can do to stop it.

    Myabe be expensive, not sure about laptop hard drives, desktopos are pretty cheap, but i'm expecting you would be playing alot more for a laptop.

    ask chandler he'll probably be albe to suggest something suitable

    new hard disk? don't be daft - it could just be a ropey bad sector.

    get the XP disk, boot to it, select recovery console, run the chkdsk /r command. that find and fix and bad sectors. or, if it can't fix it, it'll mark it as damaged so the system won't use it anymore


    u MAY then have to boot the xp disk again, run setup, select the old partition where windows is installed and select 'R' for repair. that'll look like it's running setup again when it's actually re-copying the system files back. that'll work :up:
