    586 & The attendances next season... ;)

Ok, so some of the deluded SMB's seriouly think we'll struggle to the point of not being able to pull in excess of 20,000 next season.

Id like to point out 1 thing before we get into this, we have been terrible all season, fighting a relegation battle since Xmas yet had a higher average attendace than Liverpool & overall 3rd best in the League throughout last season.

is this not just because Sid James Park is bigger? I'm pretty sure if the likes of liverpool, Villa, Spurs and possibly even everton had a 50k+ capacity stadium they would have came in ahead of you lot?

when you take in account the % full that our stadium was we still pisses all over the scum and the smoggies

our stadium was on average 93.0% full last year (and you all know how shite we played) that made us 11th overall

the scum were a mere 81.9% full

and the smoggies an embarassing 80.9 % full

all the stats came from this website http://itv.stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/PR/attend.html it makes for interesting reading

Newcastle will still get massive crowds like and I dare say away allocations will be sold out most games as championship fans will be chuffed for the chance to go to a big stadium.

Newcastle fans may be mongs but they are as loyal as they come like

I reckon every Championship side will bring a big away support to SJP, there is no limit on the amount of tickets aswell (I think its 3,000 in the Premiership)

Most of the younger fans wont have even been to SJP & a lot of the the older fans wont have been since the building work to up the capacity

To be fair like, I am all for taking the piss out of the mags - Shearer, Ashley and co have been the butt of many a joke made over the past season and beyond.

I cant and wont knock Newcastle's support though, as credit where its due they have watched some shite over the past few years and keep turning out in their numbers, home and away.

IMO Newcastle and Sunderland fans are among the best in the country - if you look at the success levels over the past 50 years, how many other clubs that have won so little have the same size gates? Same goes for how many clubs can travel in numbers up and down the country, week in week out like us?

It will be interesting to see the gates next season, as its all too easy to forget me being sat with 24,000 others in the CCC before Keane was appointed a couple of years back. As good as Sunderlands fans are - where were the other 20,000 then? Its when the chips are down like that that you find out how good your fans really are, and it will be interesting to see how the mags fare in that position.

I think Im on of the select few Newcastle season ticket holders who knows what thats like

My season ticket started off at £600, 4 seasons later its £300

£13.04 per home game in the Championship

If they did that all over the ground, aye the revenue would drop but people would flock to get a season ticket

Fair point Graham, I went to Boro v Spurs on the first game of the season at the Riverside in the away end because my flatmate was a Spurs fan and I got a free ticket and the home fans were woeful and that was on the first game of the season when they won 2-1.

I remember when they were in the UEFA cup semis and they had a near enough full stadium then when you saw MOTD the following weekend and it was half empty, shocking. They dont deserve to be in the Premiership, Newcastle do IMO.

They get big crowds but that doesnt mean they're good or loyal fans. It just means they're stupid and have nowt else better to spend there giros on.

They may still get ok attendances because everyone was conned into buying 3 years worth of season tickets when Kevin Keegan came back hahahaha.

I think the teams that deserve to be in the premiership are the ones who dont finish in the bottom 3 places of the premier league, whats fanbase got to do with what league you deserve to be in???

I didnt get my point across very well, I meant that for the fans they deserve to stay up but Boro deserve to be in the Championship.
