    5 May as election date

The general election will be held on 5 May, Tony Blair has formally announced.

Speaking after asking the Queen to dissolve Parliament next week, Mr Blair said Labour had a "driving mission" for a third term in office.

Im just surprised your voting for labour on the basis that:

    A) They are the 'best of a bad bunch'
    B) The tories are 'evil' because they closed the pits in the 80's and did nothing decent ever.

No i dont acre what they did in the 80's i think they are in a mess right now and have a poor leader, I do belive Labour will do the best job out of the three parties hence me voting for them.. Only a blind or very ignorant person would vot tories atm

i must admit, i'm fed up with the "it's the tories fault from 8 years ago debate" - labour should change the fooking record.

u should look at your local council and see how they are doing.

Personally, Wallsend seems pretty good on the day to day stuff that affects me...

i too will be casting my vote for only the 2nd time (once for the green party when i was a 1st year student in '94 - i think the green party got into Leicester East cause of all the piss take students  ) cause i too am not happy about how we're being run...

The power of democracy is being able to NOT cast your vote, just aswell as being able TO cast it.

Dont vote for someone just because you dont like the opposition - thats what keeps lousy govermnents in power.... APATHY.

the reason im voting is a dont trust micheal howard one bit, his figures dont add up and he always picks policies on the back of public outcry and that wont last when he is in...

I respect Tony Blair and i can see what good Labour have done over the last two terms i for one am much better off and the economy is in great shape and the only thinkg i diagree with is the war on iraq but i feel Blair had no choice as we need the US on our side..

thats the reason i AM voting

May be too late but each house every year gets a form to say who lives there over 18, after that all those people get a card thta you need to take to polling station.. think you can vote by post now and even possibly online ???

    It's a joke.

You miss your council tax by a day and you get letter with a court date the next day yet you get no post for voting for elections.

So you're the only person who's not voting in the whole country then? "One person" makes a lot of difference when every fucker in the country thinks like that!

If you voted, and encouraged other people to vote, and when you have kids told them that it's important to vote, then maybe people would be happier with the government that rules them instead of always fucking complaining!

If you're not going to vote, I hope to god you don't ever get into a debate on this board about politics or the state of this country...because to be quite honest you have no right to say anything if you don't vote!

    /rant

(On another note, I shall be voting Lib Dems :) )
