4th July:Road to Riminien Haan/iamelectron@Star&Shadow Bucking the centuries old tradition of keeping the Scots from the walls of Newcastle, the Fratelli Di Rimini are proud to be using their purloined key to the city to open the gates to a phalanx of Hibernia’s fiercest electro warriors – determined to show us Sassenachs that Scottish dance isn’t just about Stripping Willows, Gay Gordons and Highland Flings. Taking to the Rimini stage will be Den Haan – Glasgow’s finest Italo-Dutch Disco obsessives. With two impressive 12 inches under their belts (on the ultra-hip Dissident and Optimo labels) this Scottish duo have been causing quite a stir with their infectious take on Italo/Disco/Hi-NRG… with the promise of an all new live show we reckon the dancefloor should be burnin’ and there won’t be a dry shirt in the house! Making a welcome return to the Rimini wheels of steel is the mightiest of the mighty robots – iamelectron. A man of many talents iamelectron has been involved in promoting parties and deejaying since the late 80’s and is currently responsible (along with Dicky Trisco) for Dundee’s premier electronix clubnight Autodisco. Alongside his regular deejaying iamelectron also finds time to run two of Scotland’s finest electronic labels – Mighty Robot Recordings and Autodiscotheque. Getting the dancefloor jacking is a vocation for this man… and pure pleasure for all. As ever the Fratelli Di Rimini will pulling out all the stops to turn Newcastle’s premier independent cinema into Newcastle’s premier independent discothèque… www.myspace.com/denhaan www.discogs.com/artist/Den+Haan www.optimo.co.uk/music/artists/index.php www.thecourierofdeath.co.uk www.myspace.com/iamelectron www.mightyrobot.co.uk www.myspace.com/mightyrobot www.discogs.com/label/Mighty+Robot+Recordings www.myspace.com/autodiscotheque www.discogs.com/label/Autodiscothèque
