whu? john peel did a fabric CD and it was shite.

he was a great DJ but i dunno about his thoughts on trance, when he was on room 101 he mentioned that acid house was great but the newer dance scene was just "kids and noise" - so for that i scorn him.

plus alot of young indie kids babble on about him like he's god or something - but tbf they probably hadnt heard any of his shows.

    wankers.

was relating to how he gave the majority of the biggest british bands and artists there 1st break and airplay on his shows when no-one else did, kept the radio fresh with brand new music and broadcast acts that would never have stood a chance on commercial daytime radio, and generally was more about the music than any financial reasons. Now radio 1 is awful, considering its the "guide to everything you need to know about music", theres not one dj that comes close to anything peel did,on any radio station, Zane Lowe is a poor effort tbf, aye peel might had poor views on dance music, but dosn't hide the fact he was most positively influential dj uk has ever had. I was talking in abou british music in general, not specifically trance, As for indie kids well bandwagons and all that really...

yeah, sorry - its personal taste all over again, plus i'd just got back from work when i posted that and was feeling a bit sour.

i've never really listend to radio that much now tbh - i used to listen to radio 1 alot, but its all got rather too indie for my taste so i fuck it off now. plus the fact the shows that i want to listen to are aired when i'm either at work or on the piss/clubbing on the weekend.

wouldent it be more viable to have dance shows on midweek and maybe more people would tune in?

However its always nice to have the Essential mix on in a taxi on the way back from Newcastle to Shields. that is, if the taxi driver isnt a knob/can understand English.

Not really. Apart from Los Campesinos who are worthy of it anyway.

He plays stuff like Pete and the Pirates, We Start Fires, One Night Only, Joe Lean and the JJJ, Courteeners, Wombats, Ting Tings, Slow Club etc.

No one will come close to John Peel again though.
