    42" Plasma vs 26" LCD

I'm after a new tv for my room and I'm currently opting for an LCD with HDTV but having a nice 42" one my wall for that cinema effect would be nice. However, from what i've seen plasmas dont seem to have a very good picture at all. TV always looks low quality where u can see pixel distortion and sometimes fine horizontal lines. Know what I mean? Thats the best i can describe it ;) Do HDTV enabled plasmas have a smoother, finer picture by any chance? I shouldn't be that bothered really as it's just for my room but little things like that have a habbit of pissing me off!

    Cheers

to be honest mate the reason 42" tvs aren't very good picture ios because of the size.

Just remember if you have a hd 26" its the same resolution as a 42" hdtv will be but the 26" is a lot smaller, so the picture is gonna be a million times better.

Just like if you get a jpeg that about 1900 x 1200 and shrink it down to 400 x 350 the picture quality looks mint.

I reckon your gonna have to make the decision between cost and quality.

No matter how much you spend on a 42" tv its never gonna be the same picture quality as a 26" one.

My tv is ace it ain't hd ready, but to be honest i have know idea what that means anymore because it will play all hdtv formats from my pc fine and they look a million times better than tv and a lot better than dvd.

Basically what i'm saying is you can get good picture quality on a big screen but it'll never be as good as 26":(

I wasnt expecting a picture as good as that of a smaller tv but with HDTV being introduced into all the new plasmas I was just wondering if the wuality of them had been improved in general.

I'd prefer a nice by tv on my wall to free up some space and make me look dead cool n stuff like ;)

if your gettin a new tele make sure its native high definition not just hd compatible. the difference is a hd tele with about 1024 x 720 pixels is proper hd, a tele with 800x 540 pixels or whatever isnt, its a normal tele, if it has hd label on it and its the lower res it means it can display it but itle look like any other normal plasma

proper hd is 1920 x 1080, wish my tv had that resolution it would be mint.

My tv does play that resolution though.

And my tv wasn't supposed to be hd compatible of ready, it doesn't say on the box in the instructions or anything
