3partsand mix - Gem The Brave Pod10 - 3PS Gem The Brave. Roll up, roll up...its that time of the week again, well actually...errr...we're a little late this time around...but as always, this (last) weeks offering is well worth the (long) wait. To prove we're not limiting ourselves exclusively to beard-strokers here at 3PS, this time around we've drafted in our first female jockey of the discs...well actually, jockey of the ...errrr....digital file........Gem The Brave. Stumbled upon at another late night session in East London, Gem impressed us with her energetic Ableton set down in the basement down at A10. Her preferred styles are anything acidic, dubby, fidgety and generally anything loud with a groove...what ever it is she plays - sounds great. Gem is a former resident at The Victory in North London and recent gigs have included the MTV Stayin Alive party at Sosho and the seriously indecent Man Made warehouse rave. She regularly shows up on LifeFM.co.uk for the Dangerous Dogs radio show where she's has carved out a niche of drippy trippy house. Not particularly dark, or of any one style, but it's probably the most bouncy and energetic 3PS outing to date, get on it! [01] Intro [02] Dana & Siruisimo - 'Ick hab wat bessret vor! These ones are class aswell Its not what you know, its who you know...so we're told whilst having our heads metaphorically flushed down the U-bend, but here at 3partSand not only are we pretty much clueless about most things....we also don't know anyone, we're fighting a losing battle you could say. Safe just to stick to the old notion that, if it feels (sounds) good - do (play) it. The 3partSand podcast, this week, is from a relative unknown 'round our parts, he contacted us through the ever fruitful Myspace, pointing out we may be interested in his production work....we were, very interested. Darien has been on the scene for fair while and spent about 8 years promoting and Dj'ing at his own bi-monthly warehouse parties in London. Signed to 32 Bit Records he's beginning to amass a wealth of productions, he is also the founder of 'Stylistik' a promotions organisation dedicated to quality deep and minimal house and techno club nights. Presently he can be found at his new monthly party at Trafik on Old Street and also there weekly for his separate midweek residency. So in true 'ill scrub your back...if you send me the .aif's' fashion we decided to ask Darien to contribute to the weekly 3PS offering. Its an absolute cracker...enjoy it! Cheers, the 3PS team. (for track-lists please check www.3partsand.com or click 'info' > 'lyrics' in Itunes) What can we say about this weeks guest....well, we could say quite alot...but you probably know it all already from his years of shameless self-promotion.....just kidding Si ;-) Si is undoubtedly of of the most dedicated, skillful and uncelebrated DJ's we've ever met, he's a decent chap too.....aside from his affinity for a certain North London football team, dear oh dear. He ripped the back-end of 3partSand back in April, its a real shame we weren't hosting the party upstairs that night, because his set(s) was(were) nothing short of brilliant and would have sounded even better on the bigger system. This mix has been through the rigor of Si's rather unorthodox internet setup, i mean honestly...connecting through a moblie phone, no wonder the upload failed a million times...when are you gonna let Orange go Si....face it you were'nt good enough to work for them any longer....move on!Anyways, a week later than expected we can deliver this beast of a mix, we thoroughly enjoying it here at the moment and its definately the most professional outing on the 3PS Podcast to date....the bar is set high! (though i wont be jumping it with my current level of fitness....... i neither i dare say will Si. haha)Enjoy it. Pod05 - 3PS Jon Hughes. Residing in the sleepy surroundings of Church Stretton aka 'Little Switzerland' Jon Hughes began his journey into deepest darkest deckism. His legendary vinyl collection takes in all aspects of decent danceable music, and the man hours spent honing his DJ skills are unsurpassable.....not even his hero Judge Jules could lay claim to so much effort and enthusiasm. The contents of his room make it a real Aladdin's cave amongst house after house of decrepit, OAP collected horse brasses and Willow pattern chinaware as typified by this suburbaner than suburban ...errr suburb! Whilst every other kid in his neck of the woods was out with a wire snare and a telescopic fishing rod of an evening, Jon transformed himself from the quiet anal library type of '93 to a complete and utter bad person (in the American sense) on the decks. This kind of behavior fittingly earnt him the moniker 'DJ Banana Man'. So its about time that Jon takes to the decks for his first solo 3PS Pod-cast, i mean he is one half of 3partSand after-all...and about time he pulled his fucking finger out!... (I kid). So here you have it, (lovingly) assembled and taking in all sorts of styles from the Detroit-esq to the mellow-yellow...its more than worthy of a download and listen. Cheers, the 3PS team.
