When was the last time the crowd was that low at Sid James ? is this a sign of how much unrest there really is towards what Souness is doing at Newcastle or mearly just a case of to bloody cold to go to the match ???

yeah i've never really got that chant under the present climate in football. the bubble burst sometime around 97/98 in my opinion.

i'm not struggling by any means but i think i only get to about 90% of home games (mostly due to work commitiments) and about 30% of away games, that alone probably amounts to a second mortgage! on top of that i've just forked out £250 for flights to lisbon next month. it is certainly not cheap being a footy fan these days.

to be honest i am really starting to struggle with the justification of spending so much following the boro.

i thought 20'000 was reasonable for last night considering the weather. should be closer to a full house for charlton though.

When Sunderland played Premiership team Crystal Palace in the cup the crowd was (17,536) this game was played on a Saturday & the kick off time was 3pm, ticket prices were reduced yet the numbers didnt go to the game. The reason why turnout is low for a lot these games is some people pay there season ticket money & thats it for them, if it aint in the book they are not going.........until at least the semi's:lol:

Not sure what your point was there

But once you figure out why Sunderland got more fans for a midweek game v Rotherham on a Wednesday than they did for Palace in the cup on a Saturday?

You will be better person & you will understand why crowds dip for most cup games

My point is following your side in europe is special and for some fans its as good as it gets yet you look at Boro who have waited 125 years or summit for European football and they aint arsed, 20,000 fans turn out its pathetic, i would hope that should Sunderland ever get into a european competition the place would be rammed, jesus i would give my right arm to follow Sunderland in europe.

That is a fair point but have Newcastle sold out one European game this season ??? i think its a shame that some people class the UEFA cup games the same as the class League cup games, it seems to me that the UEFA cup has been devalued alot.

Yeah i with you a 100% I think its a great chance at a trophy and the fans should be behind the team.... Same last season only the Semi home leg was a sell out i think... Shocking... Same for boror its there FIRST season in Europe it should mean a lot to the fans

The managers also devalue it though with team selections, Boro have been guilty of this a few times this season in Europe they sign all these "big name" players on the back of having qualified for Europe then they rest them because they have a big Premiership game at the weekend

I think there are too many crap european teams i mean HEernven loks DREADFUL at the back last night only there keeper and the fact that Ameobi is total toss wank that kept the score down....

Maybe we should have 3 european competetion again and tier it so all these wank teams play in another cup
