As a Shindig favourite, people now start to talk about the Paolo Mojo “sound”. Joining him were proud to debut Saved Records boss, synth wizard and Nic Fanciulli’s ‘Skylark’ partner, Andy Chatterley whose recent singles and Essential New Tunes have been unapologetically geared towards the dance floor. Come prepared for plenty of solid house and climaxing hooks walloped in for good measure. looking forward to hearing Andy Chatterley's debut. With electronic music thankfully edging ever so closely back to quality or quantity Andy has over the past ten years stamped himself a musical footprint to be seriously credited for. Packaged under names including Skylark, Buick Project and Edison; Andy is certainly no stranger to the dance music scene and although he’s been bubbling under on the DJ circuit, he has recently stepped into the solo spotlight in clubs worldwide. Andy’s kinetic electronic music has not only elicited heavy plaudits from all areas of the DJ spectrum; but also gained him headlining slots as far as Singapore, Norway, Poland and Morocco. While his productions for a raft of labels such as Credence, NRK, Forensic, AudioTherapy and his own Saved Records have undoubtedly contributed to his recent rise, his ability to apply his studio wizardly and flit between styles cannot go unmentioned. Production with Behrouz, remixing Underworld, Keyboards for Kayne West, reworking Blondie: what’s next?.. jamming drums on Stevie Wonders next album? Joking aside, Skylarks recent I-Panik album provides ample proof of fresh production and Andy’s focus on balancing deep layers of funk, dark electronic grooves with melodic synth programming. Andy’s recent singles have been unapologetically geared towards the dance floor, with his DJ vision in arrangement and chorded moments equally apparent as the climaxing industrial hooks walloped in for good measure. It only seems appropriate for him to witness these devastating cuts in action and with DJ bookings coming in thick and fast, he’s proved that he’s equally comfortable behind the turntables rocking a club, as he is concocting his devastating speakercone blowing house music. A recent crowning of Essential New Tune by Pete Tong of Cr2 / Forensic single “Access The Future” clearly means a lot for him as a solo artist, most importantly, a sharp reminder that Andy is focused on bringing his name to the foreground. With a busy 2009 ahead both in and out of the studio it looks like Andy Chatterley will be accessing plenty of dance floors for the foreseeable future. (NB) Shindig Blog:
