Students are back with there loans so every night wants to get established with the new blood.

Better to have too many decent nights then like it was 5 years ago when there was hardly anything but the fiddler.

Obviously I'm biased but if you're low on funds then Cause & Effect and Backlash are probably your best bets for cheap nights out....

The drinks at the Cooperage are at pub prices and theres also a good selection, as a pose to getting generic largers for extortionate prices at places like digital.

    Don't forget Rollies 4 Mice,Grenade,White Elephant etc

You also get to hear newcastles independant Soundsystems in full effect in the venue with Drop The Bass,White Elephant and Error all supplying Rigs for different nights.

Just wish it all the independabt nights were on a Saturday not Fridays.

The local dj's are not too shabby either

this is true but i would be very surprised if good greef isnt rammed to the rafters

are any students into dance music these days?

seriously the majority Ive come into contact with are all into live band stuff

my point is merely that good greef irrespective of lineup will be chocka due to the depth of brand marketing they have all over the country

ive no doubt cause and effect with 3 rooms of fun will be well busy too, but irrespective of how good or bad the lineups are at good greef, people go for the name time and again

if people have 'x' amount of funds for oct , they will go to maybe 3 gigs in that month over a 5 fri month,

so it is a dilemma which events to go to as we are truely spoilt for choice

Cause and effects offers more musical diversity than goodgreef but is not a brand.

I see the coop as a underground venue its no where near like being a superclub but has a good atmosphere and now good soundsystems.

Plus its a cheaper option all round with it being pub prices and you access the bar downstairs as well as the club.

What ever this years crop of students are into will be a factor last year they seemed all to be into Drum and Bass and indi.

Hopefully this year they will be into a lot more forms of music.

I am convinced that don has anotebook where he writes down different descriptions of music, he then cuts all the names out puts them in apot and pulls them out at random and books his acts - david bowie used to do this with song lyrics in the 70's

    then theworld follows don's lead
