You should be supporting the scene you love and pay for your records man Some canny stuff there though
Im running out of room to put my records, This site is A++ any other good websites. Getting a CD Deck soon with cd/mp3 support, This site should come in handy.
fuck that man, im proud not to be ripping the industry and use only legal d/l sites, though still buy mostly vinyl anyway wherever i can
Innit. I always try to buy a track from a legal download site if I rate it, no score to all the internet clubbers who are so eager to rip off the industry. Digital downloads are cheap as fuck and anyone who says they can't afford them is a pikey.
1.49 a indivual track rip if they did bulk discounts are if you paid a resonable fee i would be intrested!!! 100 tracks equals £149.00.
Totally However when I buy records I sometimes get a hold of a copy on mp3 so I can "get to know my records" without actually sitting next to my decks I buy records when possible and beatport/audiojelly the rest
I don't deny having illegaly downloaded mp3's on my computer but these days if I rate an artist and their tracks then I think it's only fair that I contribute to their efforts, if anything so that they carry on putting out the music I love. MPR - they do do bulk discounts, you can get albums full of tracks for a few quid sometimes. Obviously no one expects anyone to re-aquire their entire music collection but I think that if you enjoy a certain track and want to hear more like it then you should at least contribute a little bit. I just don't think that the "I don't have any decks" argument is really valid anymore and websites like that 0day site are completely taking the piss.
Legal downloads are awesome if they're just going on your ipod. £1 a track in most cases and you're laughing. Different matter if you're DJing with them though, seeing as you've got to cough up £200 up front p/year for the privelege...
Who does do bulk discounts and what happens the connection gets fucked!!! loss ££££ 2mbps by the way connection can crash!! emule can store the dowloaded data to the file is complete!
once youve bought the track, you can re-download whenever you want from your library online plus the quality of the mp3 u buy shits all over them rips www.beatport.com www.audiojelly.com two of the biggest ones
Theres no excuse really, £149 for 100 tunes is bloody good infact, imagine buying that lot in vinyl & you\'re looking at nearer a grand. Personally any dj who plays illegally obtained music out needs to be shot, does no one any favours. Most of all, themselves If you like the music enough, support the artists & the independant labels & purchase the music. £1.49 is hardly much to ask for an appreciation of good music no? The whole \'i dont have decks\' excuse isnt really valid these days when downloads are so cheap! (many labels operate at a big loss because of reverting to downloads!) @ Conway: The \'digital\' dj license is only if you play out on a laptop. Once burned to cd it becomes a different format & medium, once which the club\'s PRS license will cover
Not according to the PPL it doesn't: That quote is a reply from an email I sent to their legal department querying if I needed such a licence for copying MP3s to CDRs to play out...
I wonder what the download sites have in their T&C of download then? And I wonder how the CD could be proved as being from an 'illegal' source or being in breach of T&C, i.e. domestic only...
Thats where it gets confusing. Beatport says that the tracks can be used to DJ but not in what context (bedroom or bar). DJDownload state that "You are authorized to use the Content for personal use only. You are not permitted to make copies of the Clips, whether by saving to disk, burning to CD ROM, transferring to a portable player or otherwise. Neither can you make copies of the Clips, Tracks or Materials or other Content to give, sell, loan, broadcast, send or transmit to friends and family or anyone else. To carry out any of these forbidden acts would be a breach of copyright." And proving it's legit is quite easy - I keep all of my digital label receipts in a separate e-mail folder and I can print them out as a list
